Beyond the mountain pass, Saion enters the snowy fields of Avaya. Shielded from the icy breeze by his hooded robe, he stares out into the vast landscape only to be met by the all-seeing eyes of the Colossus. Firmly grasping the shattered sword in his left hand, he begins to wander closer to the monstrous, stone-like giant, fully understanding that the only way towards salvation is to retrieve those glowing, alien eyes.

A blaring and rhythmic alarm begins to sound throughout the empty fields as the Colossus becomes aware of Saion’s presence. They both know what it means to be the bearer of the eyes… to transcend beyond this reality.

The snow crunches beneath his feet as Saion edges his way closer to the synthetic sounds. Halfway between the giant and himself, he stops; the tension rises and falls.

The alarm fades out.

The air is silent.

He raises his right hand toward the Colossus and charges at it.
The giant stands towering above Saion. Knowing that its eyes will not work against him from such a far distance, it raises its foot high and bashes it down with full strength.

While his mind has greatly weakened from the preceding battles, Saion’s ability to use the energy around him has not diminished, allowing him to focus it all into his arms and legs to leap onto the body of the massive creature, dodging the impact of its foot. He uses the sword to keep himself hooked onto the body, getting swung around from the motion.

Saion knows that the mobility of the Colossus is limited, so he begins to climb closer to its head, trying to cause any damage that he can with the sword. As he continues to get higher and higher, the world around him distorts, twisting and bending to the will of the eyes’ beholder. He begins to understand the true power of the eyes and that unless he finds another way, he will fade out of this universe’s existence like many others before him. There must be another way. There has to be.

Unhooking the sword from the stone body, Saion falls, holding his arm out against the ground to cushion the impact. The ground rumbles as the colossal beast lets out a roar, ready to alter this world again. Saion has one chance to do this—one chance to thrust the sword into the eye. Gathering all of his energy into the broken, piercing weapon, he throws the sword and guides it along its path. The giant takes one final look at him before the sword ruptures its left eye, appearing to accept that it will no longer be able to continue its role as the Guardian. The alarm goes off again and the Colossus crashes down with a deafening sound. Saion can now approach the head of the giant and retrieve his sword, staring into the dying light of the beautiful, glowing spheres before stealing their vitality.

His sword starts to absorb their energy, resting his hands on the handle. “The eyes are mine now”, he says, as his own eyes begin to turn red. The synthetic noises slowly die out; and the world around him crumbles and distorts into a new reality.
